Enough is Enough

As a global demand for climate justice, the Enough Is Enough campaign was devised by Scottish band Oi Musica in the lead up to Scotland’s hosting of COP26 in November 2021. We Femmes answered their call-out for fellow street bands to record, film and post their own version of the song.

In 2022 we Femmes kept that momentum to repeat the strong message and created our Enough Is Enough protest march during HonkOz 2022. We rallied local community members and fellow climate activists to join our march, with coffin and sombre drums we refrained that call to action. The Let It Grow project then followed.

Oi Musica’s Enough Is Enough campaign invited music makers across the world, musicians of all ages, abilities & genres to record and share a piece of music in the lead up and during the 26th UN Climate Summit, held in Glasgow. The project generated an online wave of music that expressed solidarity with those working in the climate sphere - a mass sharing of views and creative noise-making adding to the growing international call for climate justice.

We Femmes jumped on board to record and post our version of Oi Musica’s song. Here in Wollongong we were experiencing the end of Covid lockdown, so all 23 members of the Femmes recorded their part alone at home which was arranged and mixed by Mel Wishart. We then gathered on location in Port Kembla in Covid safe groups of 5 to film our version of 'Enough Is Enough'. The video was made by Femmes violinist Shelley O’Neil using ’the magic of video’ to have the Femmes appear all together in one shot, to honk and hail with musicians around the world, to rail against Climate inaction and tell world leaders that “Enough Is Enough’.
